JOB DESCRIPTION
Le Régent is seeking to appoint Boarding Graduate Interns (Stagiaires) to assist and support our boarding teams and to become involved in the broader life of the Régent community. The stagiaires will be attached to the boys or girls in the junior or senior building.
This is a residential position from 23 AUGUST 2024 to 30 JUNE 2025 . It would suit a recently qualified graduate student looking to take a break after his/her studies or who is considering a future in education.

LE RÉGENT
Founded in 2015, Le Régent is a rapidly developing Swiss boarding and day school with an international academic programme. Over 270 students from Switzerland and around the world are educated in a modern campus in the heart of the Valais Alps in the attractive and lively ski resort of Crans-Montana. Le Régent has been under the guidance of Institut Le Rosey (www.rosey.ch) since August 2019.
Le Régent follows a rigorous academic programme in English in preparation for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and for its own diploma, the Régent Graduation Diploma, while nurturing the individual talents of each student with its diverse extracurricular offering, including sports, arts, music and mountain activities.
Junior and secondary students follow the IPC and an adapted version of the UK curriculum and Pre-IB leading in some cases to IGCSEs and then the IB Diploma, where the school offers the Language and Literature course at both standard and higher level. The future introduction of the A Literature course is also a possibility. Teaching allocations are shared across the department and we would hope to appoint a candidate able to teach at all secondary levels.
Academic standards are high, class sizes are small and the international student and teaching body ensures an interesting and stimulating classroom and school atmosphere. The school’s exceptional location and outdoor education programme and the chance to ski during the winter season are important attractions for both students and staff.
As a boarding school that welcomes day students, the successful candidate will have the positive outlook required to actively be part of a vibrant boarding community and provide a positive presence in the school. In particular, the candidate will have the drive to foster a love of learning allied with high academic standards.

OVERVIEW OF DUTIES

Duties are varied and tailored to the skills and ambitions of the stagiaire engaged but cover many aspects of school life. These might include any of the following: supporting our boarders, classroom or sports assistant, library duty, and accompanying students in sports or outings.
The employee may be called on to work during the day, evening and weekends
A typical working week will be 42.5 hours
The employee’s timetable is created based on school needs and will include support in the boarding house as well as in other areas of the school
The employee is required to attend all induction, INSET days and staff meetings in the school calendar and be available on campus to support the boarding houses and students’ transfers for approximately 48 hours after students’ departure and 48 hours before students’ arrival.

We are looking for flexibility, energy and experience working with children. The ability to drive as well as a liking for outdoor activities and sports is a distinct advantage as is a readiness to live in an alpine environment.
