Stalden

Stalden was first mentioned back in the 13th century and is today a well-established municipality. Situated eight kilometres south of Visp, it is the gateway to the tourist resorts of Zermatt, Saas-Fee and Grächen. The municipality benefits from excellent transport connections to Visp and the Nikolai and Saas valleys.

Thanks to its topographic situation, Stalden is nestled within a natural landscape and has a famously mild, dry climate. It has one of the lowest rainfall rates in Switzerland, often enjoying almost tropical temperatures. Its climate makes for early springs and short winters.

The heart of Stalden is the old neighbourhood with its charming and historic buildings. The playground, school yard and sports facilities provide meeting places for children, teenagers and the young at heart. Stalden, the “village of bridges”, has much to offer in the way of leisure facilities, with numerous sports, culture and youth clubs providing entertaining programmes and recreational activities. Traditional occasions are held in high esteem by the population and village clubs, and play an important role in local life.

The regional school in Stalden ensures students receive up-to-date instruction at all levels of compulsory schooling (1H – 10OS). School meals are offered at the lunchtime club and extracurricular childcare is available up to 3H. Infants aged three months and older can visit the playgroup or attend the Kita Goldgüegi day-care centre, which offers modern childcare.

Live in nature – work in the city.
