The educational landscape of Valais provides a wide range of courses, teaching and study programmes for adults. A good place to go for information or consultation about further vocational training is the Vocational Information Centre (Berufsinformationszentrum – BIZ) at the Office for Vocational, Academic and Careers Guidance (Amt für Berufs-, Studien- und Laufbahnberatung – BSL) in Brig-Glis. A number of institutions in Valais provide concrete options for professional development, including the Upper Valais Vocational School (Berufsfachschule Oberwallis – BFO), the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland (Haute école spécialisée de Suisse occidentale HES-SO Valais), the Swiss Distance Learning University or the Swiss Distance University of Applied Sciences (Fernfachhochschule Schweiz – FFHS).
