St. Niklaus

The municipality of St. Niklaus is located in the middle of the Mattertal valley, almost halfway between Visp and Zermatt, which are each only 20 minutes away by car. Even closer, and also easily accessible by car and public transport, is the excellent family holiday destination of Grächen.

St. Niklaus stands out thanks to its great location, outstanding infrastructure, beautiful natural surroundings and direct access to the enchanting Alps. Life in the village is enriched by the many sports and cultural clubs which organise festivals and events throughout the year. The extraordinary leisure infrastructure is well worth a visit, and includes several tennis courts, football pitches and an indoor swimming pool. The village has a kindergarten, a primary school and an orientation school.

St. Niklaus is also home to the largest employer in the Mattertal valley: Scintilla AG. The company, which belongs to the Bosch group, manufactures electrical appliances at its Valais site and sells them all over the world.
