Saas-Almagell

Saas-Almagell is a cosy, friendly community with the feel of a typical Valais mountain village. It enjoys excellent transport links: the Rhone Valley (Visp) is about half an hour away and the world-famous tourist resort of Saas-Fee is ten minutes away.

The family-friendly municipality has its own kindergarten and primary school. Children can attend orientation school in Saas-Grund, which is just five minutes away by car.

Tourism is the most important economic sector in the entire Saas valley, and the tourist infrastructure in Saas-Almagell is correspondingly well developed, with numerous hotels and restaurants as well as leisure and sports facilities. In winter, there is a family-friendly ski area with guaranteed snow, and in summer, there is a wide network of hiking trails. Another popular excursion is the circuit trail around the Mattmark reservoir, which is created by Europe’s highest embankment dam. The reservoir is also proof that the energy industry plays an important role in Saas-Almagell.

Saas-Almagell is also known for its three ski stars: Pirmin, Heidi and Silvan Zurbriggen.
