Vionnaz

Vionnaz is a municipality of around 3,000 inhabitants, stretching from the Rhône Valley to the mountains. It is located in the heart of the Chablais region, less than ten minutes from the motorway, the UCI World Cycling Centre and the town of Aigle. The municipal territory covers 21 km² and borders the municipalities of Collombey-Muraz and Vouvry, as well as France over a distance of approximately five kilometres. Its highest point is the Tour de Don, at 1,998 metres above sea level.

Two church steeples, visible from far away, are a distinctive feature of the village of Vionnaz. Built on the alluvial cone of the Greffaz torrent, the village is known for the “Grand Mur” (1742), which protected residents from devastating floods for many years. Another remarkable natural site is the peat bog area known as “Les Rigoles”, the largest wetland in the Lower Valais section of the Rhône Valley, covering 14 hectares.

On the hillside, visitors can discover charming hamlets with names such as Beffeux, Bonne-Année, Le Chêne and Les Crosats. The villages of Mayen, Revereulaz and Torgon are surrounded by chalet areas with evocative local names such as Planchamp, Les Nez, La Cheurgne and Plan-la-Djeu, reflecting the region’s rich heritage and character.

Perched at an altitude of 1,085 metres, the resort of Torgon is often referred to as the “Balcony of Chablais” thanks to its exceptional panoramic views of Lake Geneva, the Vaud and Valais Alps, the Dents du Midi and Mont Blanc. Torgon serves as the first Valais gateway to the vast Portes du Soleil ski area and offers numerous hiking routes through unspoilt natural landscapes rich in biodiversity.
