Val-d’Illiez
Val-d'Illiez, offering a front-row seat to admire the impressive Dents du Midi mountain range, lies at the heart of the valley that bears the same name, the Val d'Illiez. With just over 2,000 inhabitants, the village is situated between the municipalities of Troistorrents and Champéry and shares a border of approximately two kilometres with the French municipality of Montriond.
At the centre of the village lies its lively main square, a gathering place for residents and visitors alike. Just opposite stands the church, notable for its distinctive onion-shaped steeple and its sundial bearing the inscription "Carpe Diem". A short walk away, the historic granaries offer a glimpse into the past. Carefully restored, they now serve as exhibition spaces showcasing the cultural, social, and religious history of Val-d'Illiez. The traditional chalets, with their characteristic sloping roofs, are another hallmark of the region.
With its two mountain resorts, Les Crosets at an altitude of 1,700 metres and Champoussin at 1,600 metres, the Municipality of Val-d'Illiez is part of the Portes du Soleil, widely regarded as the world's largest cross-border ski area, offering around 600 kilometres of ski slopes.
During the summer months, an extensive network of hiking and cycling trails winds through the magnificent Dents du Midi region. Thanks to its privileged location, renowned ski resorts, mountain lakes, numerous streams, and outstanding natural surroundings, Val-d'Illiez offers a highly valued quality of life.
The municipality combines unspoilt nature with a wide range of leisure and outdoor activities, creating an ideal environment for both residents and visitors seeking relaxation, adventure, and well-being throughout the year.
