Monthey

Monthey is a dynamic, vibrant and open-minded city with 17,894 inhabitants. As the administrative centre and economic capital of the region, ideally located halfway between lake and mountains, the city of the Chablais places great emphasis on cultural, sporting and festive activities.

Located on the heights and forming an integral part of the municipality of Monthey, Choëx and Les Giettes offer magnificent views over the plain and Lake Geneva. The richness of the local wildlife and the beauty of the flora make the area an ideal playground for hiking, skiing and snowshoeing.

Monthey, considered the first industrial city in Valais, played a pioneering role in the fields of chemistry, synthetic stones and metal construction. Today, it is a leading Swiss hub for biotechnology and serves as the economic engine of an entire region, providing more than 11,700 jobs.
