Leytron

The municipality of Leytron is located midway between Sion and Martigny. It can be reached by the Sion-Martigny PostBus line, the Rhône motorway (Riddes exit) or by train (stations of Sion, Martigny or Riddes).

The municipality has a population of approximately 3,500 inhabitants, distributed between Leytron, a village overlooked by the imposing Ardévaz, and the various hamlets lining the road from the Rhône Valley plain to Ovronnaz: Produit, Montagnon, Les Places, Dugny, and Ovronnaz (whose population rises to around 6,000 during the tourist season).

The Bourgeoisie of Leytron owns 588 hectares of forests, 770 hectares of alpine pastures, and 15.2 hectares of vineyards. With a total area of 268 hectares, the vineyard ranks seventh in the canton of Valais. It notably includes the renowned Grand-Brûlé estate, owned by the Canton of Valais and covering 12.5 hectares, as well as the experimental vineyard of the Federal Research Station of Changins, which covers 3.5 hectares.

Economically, the municipality of Leytron benefits from a well-developed secondary sector, particularly in the fields of woodworking, stone processing, construction, and watchmaking.

Ovronnaz, known as "the Natural One", is a summer and winter tourist resort located at an altitude of 1,350 metres. It features a thermal and wellness centre as well as a ski area offering around 42 kilometres of alpine and cross-country ski runs.
