Hérémence

Hérémence, a village perched on the slopes of the Dixence Valley at an altitude of 1,230 metres, combines traditional authenticity with the modernity of its more recent constructions. Historic chalets stand alongside contemporary public buildings and the striking concrete church with its bold architectural lines. At the far end of the valley rises the impressive Grande Dixence Dam, one of the region's most remarkable landmarks.

Hérémence is a large municipality in the Hérens District, covering an area of 10,777 hectares and stretching over nearly 40 kilometres in length. To the south, it extends almost to the Italian border and shares boundaries with five neighbouring municipalities: Vex, Nendaz, Bagnes, Evolène, and Saint-Martin.

The lowest point of its territory lies at 690 metres along the Borgne River, while its highest point reaches 3,870 metres at the summit of Mont Blanc de Cheilon.

A population of approximately 1,500 residents is distributed among the following villages and hamlets: Hérémence, Riod, Cerise, La Combaz, Euseigne, Prolin, La Grangette, Le Sauterôt, Mâche, Ayer, La Crettaz, and Pralong.
