Ayent

From the Rhône Valley floor (La Maya, 500 m) to the summit of the Wildhorn (3,247 m), the municipality of Ayent stretches across the sunny side of the Rhône Valley. Its 11 villages are scattered along the hillside, surrounded by vineyards, rolling hills and forests, meadows, alpine pastures and mountain landscapes.

Anzère, the youngest of the municipality’s villages and a family-friendly mountain resort, offers a ski area, a wellness spa, scenic walking trails, restaurants, shops and a wide range of leisure activities for all ages.

Throughout the year, Ayent hosts lively village festivals that serve as important meeting places for residents and visitors alike. These events feature concerts, running races and a variety of other activities, as well as traditional village and municipal celebrations.

The municipality’s three historic bisses (traditional irrigation channels) are an important part of its cultural heritage. They offer idyllic walking routes through vineyards, alpine landscapes and mountain pastures. The most famous of them is even depicted on the Swiss CHF 100 banknote.

A mosaic of beautiful landscapes and breathtaking views of the Valais Alps and their most impressive peaks will brighten every sunrise. And during one of your walks, you may even discover the rare and emblematic Ayent tulip.

To ensure an exceptional quality of life, Ayent offers a well-maintained network of walking paths and roads that allow for easy and sustainable mobility throughout the year. The railway station in Sion can be reached conveniently by PostBus, while motorway access is only a few minutes away, even from the municipality’s most remote areas.

The municipality is also committed to providing attractive conditions for residents, SMEs and businesses, offering a range of opportunities and advantages for those wishing to settle, invest or grow in Ayent.
