Verbier International School is a fast growing, ambitious international school in the Swiss Alps. As part of the Dukes Education family, VIS combines academic rigour with strong pastoral care, outdoor education and a distinctive mountain ethos.
Due to continued expansion, we are seeking an outstanding Director of Sport to lead and strengthen our whole school sports programme from September 2026.
This is a strategic and hands on leadership role. The successful candidate will build structures, drive standards and deliver a competitive, well organised sports programme that reflects the ambition of the school.

The Role
The Director of Sport will:
Lead and develop sport across all key stages
Design and manage a structured, competitive fixtures programme
Oversee training schedules, staffing and facility use
Line manage sports staff and external coaches
Develop participation pathways alongside high performance opportunities
Work closely with the Head of Competitive Sport to ensure alignment between participation sport and elite performance pathways
Work closely with pastoral and academic teams to support student athletes
Manage risk, safeguarding and compliance within all sporting activity
Build strong relationships with families and partner organisations
Sport is central to life at VIS. Our alpine setting provides exceptional opportunity, including a large and competitive ski race programme that forms a key part of our identity.
The ability to teach IB Sports, Exercise and Health Science would be an advantage.
The role requires strong organisation, clarity of systems and the ability to manage a growing and ambitious programme across the whole school.

The Candidate
We are seeking a colleague who:
Has proven experience leading sport within a structured and competitive school environment
Understands how to build and manage large, fixture based sports programmes
Is confident managing staff, logistics and performance expectations
Can combine participation sport with high performance pathways
Is able to contribute academically, with the ability to teach IB Sports, Exercise and Health Science being advantageous
Communicates clearly and professionally with parents and colleagues
Sets high standards for both staff and students
Thrives in a growing school environment where systems are being developed and refined
International school experience is advantageous.
