Steg-Hohtenn

The municipality of Steg-Hohtenn on the north bank of the Rhone is the gateway to the Lötschental valley. With 1,600 residents, the municipality is home to some 120 businesses and more than 1,000 jobs.

Local sports enthusiasts have access to a diverse infrastructure: the municipality has its own swimming pool with sunbathing lawn, football pitches and tennis courts with floodlights, and a modern pump track circuit that can be used free of charge by both children and adults. A walk along the Rottenbord and a longer hike along the high-altitude trail on the Lötschberg south ramp between Hohtenn and Brig round out the recreational offer.

Steg-Hohtenn’s medical and dental practices, pharmacy, day-care centre, shopping facilities, bank and post office add to the municipality’s appeal as a place of residence.

And what’s more, you can find Switzerland’s oldest vine (planted in 1743) growing on the “Borrihaus” in Steg’s village centre.
