Zeneggen

Zeneggen is picturesquely situated on a sunny panoramic terrace above the Rhone and Visp valleys at the foot of Moosalp. It is surrounded by an impressive high-Alpine landscape: In the north lies the majestic Bietschhorn, in the south the Mischabel chain with its four-thousand-metre peaks, and in the east, the upper Rhone Valley stretches right up to the Furka Pass. The municipal area runs from the banks of the Vispa river at approximately 670m above sea level up to an altitude of 1,720m above sea level.

As various archaeological finds prove, Zeneggen’s history as a settlement dates back to the early Bronze Age. The municipality is an “ecological hotspot”, and has one of the most important cultural landscapes in Switzerland.

Zeneggen can be reached from Visp in 15 minutes by car and about 20 minutes by PostBus. In addition to regular public transport connections to the valley, there are additional PostBus services to Moosalp in the summer and to the Bürchen ski area in winter.

Zeneggen is perfect for relaxation thanks to its extensive network of marked hiking trails, which range from short tours to varied day hikes at different altitudes and in various landscapes. Roughly 300 inhabitants form a harmonious community: life in Zeneggen is a unique and refreshing experience.
