Grengiols
Grengiols is an extensive and sparsely populated village with around 430 inhabitants spread over an area of 5,800 hectares. Despite the fire of 15 August 1799, this typical Valais mountain village of national importance has held on to its rural traditions, its shared values and its traditional alpine charm.
Grengiols is part of the Binntal Landscape Park and lies at the foot of the Bättlihorn. Another landmark is the monumental neo-Romanesque church, which was built in 1914. Grengiols is also known for its unique wild tulip species, “Tulipa grengiolensis”, which blossoms on rye fields in the second half of May.
In your leisure time, you can explore a range of natural attractions around the village, including the Alpe Furggen meadow, the Breithorn, the Saflischtal valley and the crystal-clear Blausee lake (also known as the Grängjersee). The kids can let off steam in the playground, on the minigolf course or on the football field at the leisure facility in the upper part of the village while you grill sausages in the barbecue area or settle down on a bench to enjoy the surrounding mountain landscape.
