Eggerberg

This cosy mountain community in the Sonnige Halden region is a short distance north of the charming city of Visp, home of the chemicals and biotech company Lonza, at the heart of the Brig-Visp-Naters agglomeration. Visp railway station is five to ten minutes away by car. The beautiful and lively town of Brig-Glis and its wide choice of shopping facilities is only eight minutes away on the BLS rail network.

Eggerberg is very quiet and sunny, and is located right next to the Baltschiedertal nature reserve. The municipality is nestled in a picturesque and unspoilt landscape. Some of the more beautiful parts of its territory are situated within the UNESCO Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch World Heritage Site. The residential area in Eggerberg offers a sweeping view of the Rhone Valley and the magnificent Mischabel massif with its impressive four-thousand-metre peaks. The Finnubiel restaurant in Finnen, the Wirtschaft Egga restaurant in Eggen and the Bergsonne hotel-restaurant with adjoining playground in the village centre offer welcoming and hospitable surroundings where locals and guests can meet.

The cultural life of the municipality is extraordinarily diverse: brass bands, drum and flute groups as well as church choirs cover the musical side of things, while women’s and mother’s associations take care of social matters. There’s also a sports club for all things athletic and, when it comes to agriculture, there’s even a sheep-breeding cooperative. The bakers’ association and the cultural commission also do their bit to look after the municipality’s traditions and cultural heritage. The cultural treasures of Eggerberg also include a small wine and agriculture museum.
